Dale’s Story
Short story about me, for 20 plus years I have struggled with a weight problem being over 300 plus pounds for 10 years. In December of 2009, I weighted a little over 360 pounds. In February 2010 after another News Year’s resolution I was again losing motivation even though I had lost 25 pounds – but as usual I had no plan just was winging it again.
On February 10th I bought a Bodybugg System from 24 Hour Fitness and my life began to change. My wife and I walked one mile on the 10th… and it took me 42 minutes to walk that mile! It was painful, sad and frustrating, but the next day I walked that mile again. I set up a goal using the Bodybugg as a guide to lose 100 pounds in 6 months. On August 10th 2010, I had lost 103 pounds and was walking an average of 7 miles a day. I still worked full time as a District Manager at a fast food company. I traveled with my job, went on vacation with the family, went to football camp (I coach high school football), but even with all these potential distractions I walked every day and stayed disciplined on the amount of calories I was eating and burning each day.
All total from December 2009 to December 2010, I lost 140 pounds and have kept it off ever since. I still walk everyday anywhere between 7 and 15 miles a day. I listen to my body for when I need a day off or just go for a short and easy 2 to 3 mile walk. Last year (October 2011) was the first of many 24hr walks and walking events for everyonewalk.com I walked 76 miles last year in the 24hrs and we raised awareness and money for MS and obesity. Moving forward this year, the 24 hour walk will also be the senior projects for two of the football players where I coach. I look forward to continuing not only the 24hr walk but many more events through the everyonewalk.com non-profit organization to bring awareness and education to MS, fitness, and the impact of weight related issues.
Sincerely yours,
Dale Rule
